2012 - #3 - Nuttscorner Oval - 19/2/12
The team Bangers event at Nuttscorner has been one of the better supported banger meetings in recent years and this year was no different. I don’t think it’s any breaking news if I was to say the banger numbers fell away with every meeting last season and had become quite poor by the end of the year, so it was great to see a big turnout of cars for the team meeting, and plenty of action.

My day began by being stuck behind MPV after MPV after MPV on my way to the racing, I’m not sure what attracts people who can’t drive to buy these types of vehicles, but seemingly they do. That’s not to say everyone who has one can’t drive it, but if someone can’t drive this seems to be the vehicle of choice to tour around the country in. While my blood was boiling with being stuck behind people who wanted to see the world at walking pace, the clouds seemed to get darker and darker as I got closer to Nuttscorner, and I’m surprised and thankful that apart from a few spits of rain early on in the meeting, we got away dry.
Going into this meeting I had expected it would be the last trip to Nuttscorner as Nuttscorner Oval, but it appears my infield residency will remain there for a few more meetings yet, how many I’m not sure.

On the track The condoms won the team event in the bangers which featured some big hits and plenty of action and some very well presented cars too, or at least they started that way.
In the 2 Litre Hot Rods there was heat wins for Davy Potter and Feargal McNally, with Feargal going on to earn the final win as well after Adam Hylands who had crossed the line first was docked 2 places.
The Lightning Rods seen heat wins for Richard Stewart and Gary Beggs, while Aaron Stewart took the honours in the final.
Billy Finnegan Jr took the honours in both the ProStock heats before getting involved in a battle with the 999 car in the final, where Dan McGreevy took the spoils.
Across the formulae the wall claimed many victims from a slippery track and there was no fewer than four stoppages for loose wheels.
