Glenn Bell – National Hot Rod World Champion 2012 |
I wasn’t sure what I could add that hasn’t already been said, or that I could post that other sites couldn’t. An idea that I have been toying with over recent months is looking back at the cars and paths some of the drivers who have raced over the past decade have taken, the honours they have picked up and so on, so that is the route I’m going with this.
I couldn’t not mention that NI’s own Glenn Bell took the honours in the big race at Ipswich last weekend, in what looked like damp and miserable conditions, and in doing so it kept me refreshing multiple browser windows at once while I checked National Hot Rod on twitter for updates, National Hot Rod on facebook for updates and the fantastic service from Spedeworth in keeping their site updated lap on lap.
Glenn has reached the ultimate goal in non contact racing by becoming the National Hot Rod World Champion, adding to his 3 previous Stock Rod World titles and I could be wrong, but I believe that makes him one of only three drivers from the province to have been World Champion in 2 classes, joining Davy McCall (1600/2.0 Hot Rods and Nationals) and Keith Martin (1600 Hot Rods and Nationals).
Congratulations to Glenn on this achievement and here is a pictorial look back at the past ten years of the “number 9”
