2012 - #28 – Tullyroan Oval – 28/7/12
So here we are at the end of July and one of the meetings I was most excited about when I first seen the fixture list for the season, even though I didn’t at that stage know what the Tullyroan track would turn out like, it was still an exciting prospect to see the “Tooz” on another track.

Perhaps I’d built it up a little too much in my own head, or perhaps it’s a sign of the times in local F2 racing these days, but I was quite disappointed we only got 14 cars at the meeting. In perspective the saloons managed thirteen cars and that is double what I’m used to watching of them. It was good to see Gavin Fegan back out at the wheel though, even if he looked to perhaps not have the best of hardware at his disposal.
There was still good racing from the F2s, a last bend shoot out, plenty of hits, plenty of action, almost a last bend hit for the final win and all the things that are great about the class. Matt McCreight was unlucky not to have won the opening heat when yellow flags came out with a lap to go. Graham Fegan took the win, Denver Grattan took heat two and Graham Fegan took the final, closely followed home by Grattan.

The Lightning Rod turn out was rather disappointing with only fourteen cars racing, well down on what we’ve come to expect from them. Martin O’Flaherty took the opening heat and Paul McConnell took the honours in the second heat and was then awarded the final after Stephen Emerson was docked for jumping the start.

The 2 Litre’s had twenty one cars in action and following heat wins from Adam Hylands and Sean Dynes it was meeting sponsor Alistair Calvin who took the win in the final, despite a late surge from Adam Hylands who almost got up the inside of Calvin as the cars came out of the last bend and sprinted to the line.

In the ProStocks there was an opening heat win for Andrew Jennett, heat two went to Stefan McClelland before James Litter took the final win.

Approx Car Turnout: 71 cars (13 F2s, 14 Lightning Rods, 21 2 Litres, 23 ProStocks)
