For once, I don’t think there is much I can report on about the Irish team bangers, to say it was a fantastic Banger meeting pretty much sums it up. While I had been looking through photos last week for bits and pieces of artwork I was throwing together for Tullyroan, I flicked through the photos from the 2012 Team meeting, one of the last banger meetings at Nuttscorner Oval, and I thought to myself that we hadn’t seen an outstanding Banger meeting at Tullyroan to date, a few good ones, but nothing outstanding. Well, that has now changed, from the first bend of the first heat to the last hit in the Destruction Derby the bangers were superb. Steven Reynolds won both heats and the final, leading Superteam A to victory in the Team Championship with “Lossy Jnr” winning the Destruction Derby. The ProStocks featured a few new cars, but the same great action and it wasn’t long before the track on the backstraight was blocked with a banger style pile up. Stefan McClelland took the honours in the opening heat and the final, with Allen Cherry the heat 2 winner. The Lightning Rods also seen a few new cars on show. Martin O’Flaherty won heat one with Francie Allen winning heat two and Mark Taylor took the win in the final. The 2 Litre Hot Rods were a bit short on cars, but not short on action. Adam Best and Wayne Woolsey shared the heat wins with Mark Madill winning the final. Approx Car Turnout: 96 cars (38 National Bangers, 13 2.0 Hot Rods, 27 ProStocks, 18 Lightning Rods)
