2013 - #54 - Tullyroan Oval - 29/12/13 |
The last meeting of 2013, and my 54th meeting of the year. For most of the year it's seemed a little too much like work and not enough like a pastime or hobby should be, so I need to sit down and have a hard think about how I change that for 2014. I've certainly plenty of ideas for material for NIF2, but perhaps facebook is the better place for a weekly collection of shots from each meeting, who knows, there is still quite a bit of head scratching to be done for next year.
The festive meeting at Tullyroan and Nuttscorner Oval before it means an outing for the Big Van bangers and the Reliant Robins Irish Championship. It's almost just as traditional now that Ian Bolton wins the Robins and this year was no exception, although mid race it looked as though Billy McClean could well take the Green and White Cheq roof. Bolton went on to take the win in the Revenge race.
There was a good squad of fourteen van Bangers feature race going to Dave Haugh. Jonathan Winter took the all comers before Stevo McGrath won the DD.
In the Prostocks there was heat wins for Lee Wylie before Conor McElmeel won the final in which stockrod star Raymond Harper was third racing the number 48 machine of Jamie Rea.
The Lightning Rods put up a good show in all three races as the drivers now push to qualify for a very early world final in Cowdenbeath in May. Winston Weir won the opening heat before Vince Litter took heat two and it was World Champion Nigel Jackson who took the win in the final.
In the Juniors Edmond Davis took the opening heat and the final. I missed the second heat.
Since I forgot to wish all my readers a Merry Christmas, I'll take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year!
