Fine Weather for Ducks at Tullyroan |
The third meeting within three days in the province took place at Tullyroan on Sunday. In hindsight I go into these three meeting weekends full of enthusiasm as if I’m about to take on some sort of meaningful challenge like climbing Everest and come out the other end of the weekend feeling as if I’ve fallen from the summit of Everest. My weekend was pretty much non stop racing from I left work on Friday night until I went back on Monday morning, I’ll say hear and now that that’s the end of 3 meeting weekends for me, but I know rightly by the time the next one comes along I’ll do it all over again.
The weekend certainly saved the best to last in terms of the racing and the worst to last in terms of the weather. The Unlimited National Bangers were much better than the 2L’s the previous night, although the outcome of Lee Clarke winning remained the same, the supporting classes were the best of the weekend too. The Superstox were in superb form again with Denver Grattan taking the final win after Kyle Beattie took both heats. The Lightning Rods continued to entertain with Aaron Stewart taking a heat and final double and Gary Beggs winning heat two. Even the Juniors were good with Caoimh Donnelly taking the opening heat probably against the odds it’s fair to say when a late stoppage bunched the pack behind her, but she still drove off and left the boys in the slippery conditions. In the ProStocks Dave Morrison returned to the class and got straight back into winning way, taking the final win, which was a superb race which looked to be going to way of Jazz Moore who was once again visiting us, up until his car spluttered to a halt late on.
Additionally, away from Tullyroan Gary Woolsey made it through the English qualifying series in the National Hot Rods, finishing fourth in the points.
