European Glory for Fleming
Dean Fleming became the ProStock European champion at Aghadowey Oval on Saturday 30th of August with a heat and final double after his brother Ryan had won the opening heat.

I’m not entirely sure what way the rota works with the ProStock big events, but it was our turn to have the European Championship, and it was it was the first time it has been staged here in NI. For me one major is plenty for a class that only races in two countries with three staging promotions and on four tracks, but then again if it gives each promotion a bite at a big championship each year and gets drivers travelling, punters through the gates and adds another colourful roof to the grid, then hell, why not do it?

There was a time not that long ago you’d have looked at the fixture and been expecting 30-36 ProStocks, but numbers have dwindled a bit and I think twenty five cars took part in the meeting, which all the same isn’t to be sniffed it. Ryan Fleming won the opening heat, dean Fleming won heat two and Dean Fleming went on to take the final after following and then passing Stuart Agnew in the closing stages, Agnew finished second while Steven Haugh possibly produced the drive of the night to finish third in the championship race after being involved in some early drama. Tam Melrose was the top Scottish driver for much of the evening but I think ended up in the wall in the closing stages.

The second heat in the Stock Rods was probably the race of the night as an ever increasing field of Stock Rods ran nose to tail or two and three wide and you could have thrown a blanket over the entire field as it bunched up behind Bobbie Johnston who drove flawlessly to hold his line and the lead. Marc Morrell took the meeting final which was the final round of the PC Paints and Components series.

The Lightning Rods final seen a win for Nigel Jackson, Dylan Booth won the Thunder Rods and Stevo McGrath took the win in the Bangers which had a decent jacking train in the all comers race.
