Grattan and Agnew victorious at Tullyroan
I’m not sure if it’s an association I make with going back to school or if it’s how the seasons are defined, but I always consider the last day of August as the last day of summer. In reality this year the last day of summer mid have been somewhere around mid June, it was a mid week day and I was in work, unless you live locally to Aghadowey in which case summer was on Easter Monday this year!

As my interpretation of summer comes to an end so too has many of the “series” for each of the classes at DMC Race Promotions and Sunday seen the NIOvalTV series come to a close. It’s once again been a privilege to be in a position to put something back into the sport and it’s clear to see the appreciation from the drivers given the amount of Superstox drivers who now wave to us on their way to line up, I’d say it’s like being in a Royal box, but it’s more like Stalter and Waldorf from the muppets (google it if you’re not sure) if the truth be told. It’s nice to put something back, it’s nice to see it’s appreciated but it’s priceless to be able to be part of something when it’s putting on some of the races the Superstox have put on throughout this year’s series and the final round was no different, sometimes you can just stand back and smile.
Adam Best joined the ranks of the Superstox this weekend and had a baptism of fire with a roll on the back straight in heat two. Jeff Minish took the wins in both heats from graded starts, but was coming from 9th in the closed grid final. Gary Grattan led the final from lights to flag with Kyle Beattie picking up second and Denver Grattan third.
If you have a business that can benefit from advertising at Oval racing or have a business and thought about sponsoring something, we’d recommend sponsoring a series…… but if you’re putting up tyres pick something that can be locally sourced, not Hoosiers that need brought from the mainland or shipped.

As a foot note on the Superstox at the time of writing this there is 32 booked in for the coming weekend, it’s going to be some show!

Moving on from the Superstox, the ProStocks raced for their Irish masters trophy, with graded heats it was Cyril Hawe who took both heat wins before a reverse of the previous night’s results in the final as Stuart Agnew took the win with Dean Fleming second and Ryan Fleming third.
Chris Knipe took what I believe is his first win in the Juniors in heat two and went on the double his tally in a wet final. Curtis Greer won the 1300 final and Wayne Woolsey posted a heat and final double in the 2 litres after an opening heat win for Mervyn Emerson.

Next up it’s the September Speedweekend!
