Top 2 Litre action at Tullyroan Oval
The 2 Litre Hot Rod’s stole the show at Tullyroan Oval today (yes, I’m actually writing a report on the day the event happened, something quite rare) as an Emerson V Emerson battle for the final rounded out an afternoon of racing which could be considered a slow burner, but it certainly didn’t disappoint in the end. I’ll be honest, I did write a lot about today’s meeting, then I read it back and thought it was quite negative on banger racing and 1300s, and portraying the sport in a bad light goes against the good work that I do, it also seems quite unfair on those who win things and do turn up, so I deleted it and started again. Ryan Patton won the 1300 final..... here ends the 1300 report. On the bangers, Jonny Murdock took two wins and the DD only lasted 30 seconds and ended with the hit of the day as first Steven Bolton went into the back of Murdock and then Bobo went into the back of Bolton in one of the longest 3 car trains you’re likely to see. The Lightning Rods provided some good racing and Jordan Rochford took a hotly contested final win. I think it’s fair to say that Rochford, Weir and Jackson are the class of the field at the minute and providing some great scraps to watch. The Thunder Rods made their second trip to Tullyroan and it was Curtis Greer who took the win in the Tullyroan Challenge Cup, while a three wide battle for second in heat two was the sort of things we’ve become used to seeing in the class. As the title says it was the 2 Litres that stole the show, heat two seen Adam Hylands have a good go at driving around Shane Murray before Hylands had to go wide of a spun car and dropped back down the pack, I guess we’ll never know if he’d have made it. The final seen the Emerson brothers battle wheel to wheel for the closing laps with Mervyn on the inside and Stephen on the outside, Mervyn took the win as a pack of cars crossed the line jostling for position.
