Irish Titles for McConnell & Wright |
Craig McConnell (F2) & Ryan Wright (Saloon Stock Cars) picked up the silverware and the Irish titles at Nutts Corner Raceway on Sunday 12th of October.
For me a rare outing at a meeting to just be a spectator, but even at that I still came back with nearly as many photos as I did on Friday or Saturday night.
Craig McConnell won an action packed F2 Irish Championship having come back from an early spin which put him to the back of the field, but it’s F2 racing and you can expect a yellow flag or two in an Irish championship and if you’re quick you’re never going to be out of contention come the end. Chris Kincaid took up the early race lead but was closed down by Ryan McCrory with the two eventually coming together and handing the lead to Connor Hughes, Hughes had quite a lead over McConnell and looked to have the race in the back until a late yellow flag came out closing the pack, Hughes again took up the running from the restart but a misfire looked to lose the car power in the corners and McConnell made easy work of taking the lead and the Irish title. Hughes picked up second and William Murray picked up third having started last on the grid.
Ryan Wright took the Saloon title after Ross Houston had looked to have the race in the bag but pulled off mid race. Anthony McIvor was second and Thomas McCrory was third.
