2011 - #4 - Ballymena Raceway 15th April |
The 2011 season got underway at Ballymena Raceway on Friday 15th of April, with the Stock Rods, National Hot Rods, Junior Rods and Gp 2 Lightning Rods.
The Gp 2 Lightning Rods kicked of the season with Uel McMillan taking the honours in the opening race of the season. Denver Logan took the opening final of the season in the Gp 2's, while Marc Morrell took the honours in the Juniors and Micky McFall set out his stall in the Stock Rod by winning the William Cooke Memorial Trophy.
Gary Woolsey looked untouchable in the National Hot Rods, racing for the Challenge Cup, with an opening heat win from pole, followed by a superb second in heat two from the back. It was little surprise he took a comofrtable win in the final from the front, with Keith Martin second and the action coming further down the field as Ian McReynolds and John Christie battled for third. McReynolds eventually taking the spot.
