Double Delight for Stevo at Tullyroan |
Stevo McGrath won the 2L National Bangers King of Krash at Tullyroan Oval on Saturday night and went on to take the All Comers race later in the meeting.
The National Bangers had a fairly decent turnout of cars which included Anto and Mark Hughes of the Assassins who aren’t as regular as they once were and it was great to see them back out.
Stevo led home Craig Nichol and Mark Hughes in the opening title race before leading home Steven Reynolds in the All Comers race which had featured some big hits in a train on the back straight.
The DD was another big hitting affair and came down to a duel between Mark Hughes and Steven Reynolds with Hughes coming out the winner.
It may have been the King of Krash for the Bangers, but each of the other classes got in on the act themselves. Conor McElmeel ended up on his roof in the second ProStock Heat, the Junior Productions final result was taken back a few laps after the leader was judged to have been illegally removed from the lead, the 2.0 Hot Rod final featured a big smash that took out several of the fancied runners in the opening laps and the Superstox weren’t shy of the bumper work either.
Results wide Stephen McCready took a heat and final double in the ProStocks, Gregg Hyndman took comfortable wins in the heat and final for the Superstox to take home the Hoosier tyre for the NIOvalTV series Round 3 and Philip Beatty won the 2.0 Hot Rod final.
The Junior Productions raced for the AMcK & Son Supercup which as results go was one of those races that I don’t think anyone ended up awarded with the position in which you thought they crossed the line once the dockings had been handed out, but the end result was a win for David Gurney in only his second meeting. AMcK has generously put up a fruit basket for each of the top 3, which I think was a great gesture and seemed a bit of an old school prize of sponsors putting up something which reflects their business, some refreshing thinking and great to see.
