Big Vans Round out the Festive Meetings |
As is becoming a bit of a trend with my festive racing activities, I missed the boxing day meetings in favour of spending time with family and missed the New Year’s day meeting through not being up out of bed early enough to make it for the start of the meeting, or possibly any of the first round of heats. Tullyroan became my only trip to the racing over the festive period.
The Big Van bangers headlined the meeting and entertained throughout. Dean Farrell won the Van-dalism title but for me the stars of the show were Willy O’ for a follow in on Big Dave in the All Comers and Stevo for his track blockades and an afternoon of hitting anything that moved or blocking it at least.
With quite a few young stars moving up from the Ninja Karts in 2016 it was a great chance for some other drivers to make their mark in the class. Jack Morrow took a head and final double with Lilly Gallagher the other heat winner. Young Sam Percy looked quick in the final and perhaps with a lap or few more would have challenged for the win. Brandon Littler probably looked the most improved in a new LJN Kart.
Gary Grattan won all three races in the Superstox, chasing down Stephen Stewart right to the last bend of the final. Ashley Hawe took a heat and final double in the ProStocks which seen him take the lead from Adam McCready late on in both those races. Winston Weir won the Lightning Rods opener with Ricky Shaw taking the wins in heat two and the final.
Something I never normally think to do when I’m writing reports is wish my readers a Happy New Year, so there it is, Happy New Year!
