2011 - #10 - Nuttscorner Oval 8/5/2011 |
Another great day of racing in great weather conditions at Nuttscorner Oval on Sunday.
The bangers were a little tame in the heats I thought, and didn’t have the best of turnouts, but the DD wasn’t bad.
The 2 Litre’s once again were the class of the day for me, even if a bit naughty at times, but that is racing, it’s what we go to see, and an element of contact is to be expected when you put so many closely matched cars on a short oval. I’m sure I’ll not endear myself to true hot rod fans, but I think it is far more entertaining than a lot of cars going nose to tail in circles.
The 2 Litre’s seen heat wins for Bradley Dynes and Petie Donnelly, but only after Paul Wilson and Nigel McCauley were docked in each heat. Adam Best took the win in the final, but drive of the day came from Wayne Woolsey, racing the Edwards car for the first time, he took second place having looked extremely quick on the outside line throughout the race.
The Lightning Rods contested their King of Nuttscorner, with heat wins for Gordy McKee and Stephen Emerson, after a bit of a hair start Emerson took the final with Gordy McKee second and Ben McKee third.
William Stewart took the final in the ProStocks and Stuart Cochrane won the junior final took the final in the Juniors.
In the bangers Stevo McGrath took the Spring Classic win.
