2011 - #28 - Hednesford - 14/8/2011
Next Stop on the Weekend away, Hednesford Hills for the F2 Semi finals and the Stock Rod World Final.

I'd never been to Hednesford before, so this was another track to tick off the list, nor had I been to the F2 semi's or a Stock rod world on the mainland, so that is two high profile meetings off the list too.

Starting with the Semi's, Semi 1 looked to be the tastier of the two on paper with much anticipation about who would lift who and how it would all play out. Many may have anticipated that Speak would have won, but I think few would have expected Moodie to have followed him so closely but not really mounted a challenge for the win, in the end it was a bit tame.

The second semi I was fortunate enough to be on the infield for, I can't really say much about anything that happened, except that Hednesford is a lot more challenging than Ballymena is to photo F2's at, that took a few laps of adjusting to. Burgoyne took the win.

In the stock rods, our guys had little luck, lowly grid draws for the opening heat put them in the thick of the action, Harper pulled off I assume with Mechanical problems, Cardwell looked to get stuck in someone else's accident and I think got loaded and McFall got caught up with Latka early on and struggled to make headway through the pack, but did get up to seventh at the flag.
The second heat McFall looked to be going well up until a stoppage and then he didn't seem to find the same pace again. Harper was the higher NI finisher in seventh.
Stuart Smyth quickly took the lead of the final from the outside of the front row and never really looked under pressure. Harper went out early on, McFall looked to be the fastest man on the track for a few laps and then got tangled up losing time and places, before eventually finishing fifth. Smyth took the win, Andy Sturt was second with Davy Philp third.

Thanks to Incarace, Andy Hankin and the other photographers for affording me the oppertunity to get onto the infield.
